In the midst of the hustle and bustle of modern times, humans often lose direction. Information is scattered everywhere, technology is increasingly sophisticated, but not a few people actually feel empty and anxious. Social disputes, political polarization, even family divisions become daily phenomena. In fact, Islam has instilled the values ​​of life not only through the verses of the Qur’an and the hadith, but also through the classical scientific treasures that we often ignore.

One of them is through the Great Work Alfiyah Ibn Malik-A Nahwu Book contains a thousand verse of poetry which is still taught in Islamic boarding schools. Although the main goal is to teach Arabic grammar, the verse in it turns out to store the wisdom of life if we want to interpret it more broadly.

I increase anexation and installation

The poetry above actually explains the signs I’rab in nahwu science. However, if interpreted literally, he actually provides a very deep provision of life. Let’s describe the philosophical meaning.

فَارْفَعْ بِضَمٍّ – If you want your degree to be raised, take care of the unity

In Nahwu, Rafa ‘ marked by ḍlommah. However, if read with the perspective of life, “Lift with togetherness” means maintaining unity and unity. Life full of quarrels will only drop the degree of human, while keeping ukhuwah will elevate dignity. As the words of the Prophet SAW:

Believers for people believers, like both children, tighten each other.

Meaning: “A believer for another believer is like one building, strengthens each other.” (HR. Bukhori and Muslim)

وَانْصِبَنْ فَتْحًا – If you want to live lasting, be open to open

In Nahwu, NOSB Usually with fatḥah. The implied meaning is openness. Fatḥah Literally means “open”. So lasting life is a life that is ready to open up to change, learn new things, and not rigid to face the dynamics of the times. Like the message of Imam al-Ghozali in the book Iḥya ” ad-din himself:

Anyone who does not increase his knowledge is in two deficiencies

Meaning: “Anyone who does not add knowledge, then he is in shorts.” (Al-Ghazali, Iḥya ” ad-din himselfJuz 1, Beirut: Dār al-Ma’rifah, p. 37)

In Arabic grammar, Jarr marked by Kasrah. Say Kasrah itself means “broken” or “crack”. If interpreted in life, division can be avoided with humility, relenting, and tawadhu ‘.

A humble attitude is not a weakness, instead it becomes the strength to knit togetherness. Imam Nawawi Dalam Riyādlus quuāliḥī mention:

And nothing has been placed for God, unless God raised him

Meaning: “Not someone humbles himself because God, unless Allah will raise his degree.” (Riyāḍlus quuāliḥīnBeirut: South Kathir, 1992, p. 255)

وَاجْزِمْ بِتَسْكِينٍ – Establish your heart to live calmly

In the rules of nahwu, Jazm Usually marked by breadfruit (calm). The philosophy is clear: a quiet life will only be achieved if the heart is steady in belief. Many people are restless because their hearts are excited, easily shaken by the waves of the world.

Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla is emphasized in the Qur’an:

Except if the memories of God, the heart is convinced

Meaning: “Remember, just by remembering God the heart becomes peaceful.” (Surah Ar-Ra’d verse 28)

Who would have thought, a stanza from the Book of Nahwu could be a mirror of life full of wisdom. Ibn Malik taught that life must be built on unity, openness, humility, and belief. This is a true provision so that humans can live life with blessings.
