Central Java Provincial Government and BI launched the Borobudur Playon 2025 rupiah, encourage sport tourism and people’s economy

About Semarang – The Provincial Government of Central Java together with Bank Indonesia continues to innovate in developing the tourism sector and encouraging the healthy lifestyle of the community. One of them is through the launch of the Borobudur Playon 2025 rupiah, which was held in the courtyard of the BI representative office in Central Java Province, Semarang, on Sunday (6/15/2025).

This annual event is a momentum for the synergy between the promotion of rupiah love, sport tourism, and community economic empowerment.

The launch event was officially opened by the Regional Secretary of Central Java Province, Sumarno, together with the Head of Central Java BI Representative, Rahmat Dwisaputra, marked by the release of Fun Run 5K participants.

Hundreds of participants from among students, the running community, until the general public enthusiastically participated in this activity which was packaged full of spirit of togetherness and a healthy lifestyle.

According to Sumarno, this event is not only an educational place for loving the rupiah, but also as a real effort in building a sport tourism ecosystem in Central Java.

“We want tourism not only seen in terms of entertainment, but also become a driver of the people’s economy. So, besides Borobudur Playon, there is also a trail run in Dieng Kaldera, Kebumen Geopark, to Tour de Baturaden,” Sumarno said.

The Borobudur Playon 2025 Rupiah event is also intended as a means of strengthening the involvement of the community and small and medium businesses (MSMEs). By presenting the crowd and potential of tourists, this activity is expected to open business opportunities and increase the purchasing power of the surrounding community.

“In addition to being a promotional room, this is also a means of distribution of economic benefits directly to the community,” added Sumarno.

The peak of the Borobudur Playon event will be held on July 27, 2025 in the Borobudur Temple area, Magelang, with two competition categories: 5K and 10K. Participant registration is done online via the official page [www.borobudurplayon.com].

The hybrid format will also be implemented, connecting events digitally through jasirah applications that support the tourism sector such as hotels, restaurants, and travel agents.

The Head of Central Java BI Representative, Rahmat Dwisaputra, emphasized that the funds obtained from this event would be channeled to support the needs of the community around Borobudur.

“The Magelang Regency Government will determine the distribution of funds according to village needs, ranging from education, health, to infrastructure,” he said. He also added, in addition to being a sporting event, this activity introduced the cultural and historical potential of the Borobudur Temple to the wide audience.

With an inclusive and sustainable concept, the Borobudur Playon 2025 rupiah is expected to be an annual event that is not only healthy, but also welfare. This event was at the same time a warm -up to the Borobudur Marathon in November.

“We want each participant to bring a good impression. If the community is friendly, sterile route, and a conducive atmosphere, then participants will return. That is the main goal: Building synergy, education, and empowerment of the village,” Rahmat concluded. ***
