In the midst of the blessed atmosphere of Ramadan, quite a few Muslims are filled with anxiety when facing certain conditions during fasting. One of them is: what if someone hasn’t had a junub bath until dawn? Is the fast still valid, or is it invalidated? This question often arises, especially for married couples who have sex at night and then fall asleep and miss the mandatory bath time before dawn.
It is important to understand this issue clearly so that there are no misunderstandings in carrying out this great worship.
The scholars agree that purity of the major hadas (junub) is not a valid requirement for fasting. This means that a person who enters dawn in a state of junub still has a valid fast, as long as he has the intention of fasting at night.
This confirmation can be found in the following Al-Mausu’ah al-Fiqhiyyah:
22 – A person who is unclean can fast if he fasts in the morning before bathing. (1) Because Aisyah and Umm Salamah said: We testify to the Messenger of Allah. Shalawat and greetings may Allah SWT bless him, if he wakes up unclean without a wet dream, then he will bathe and fast.
Al-Bada’i’ 1/38, Al-Mughni 3/109, Al-Muhadhdhab 1/188-189, and Jawahir al-Iklil 1/152-153.
Meaning: “A person who is in a state of junub still legally fasts, namely by entering the morning (Fajr) in a state of fasting before bathing. This is based on the testimony of Aisyah and Umm Salamah, both of whom said: We testify that the Messenger of Allah, SAW, once entered dawn in a state of junub, not because of a dream, then he bathed and continued his fast.” (Hadith History of Bukhari 4/153). [Al-Badaa-i’ Juz I/38, al-Mughni Juz III/109, Al-Muhadzab Juz I/188-189, Jawaahirul Ikliil Juz I/152-153])
An authentic hadith narrated by Imam al-Bukhari strengthens this statement:
Hadith: That Aisyah and Umm Salamah said: We testify against Rasulullah SAW, that he was in a state of impurity without wet dreams, then he bathed and then fasted. Narrated by Al-Bukhari (Al-Fath 4/153 – Al-Salafiyah Edition)
Meaning: “Indeed, Aisyah and Umm Salamah said: We testify (the condition of) Rasulullah SAW, that he really entered the morning (Fajr) in a junub state, not because of a dream (ihtilam), then he took a bath, then continued with fasting.” (HR. Imam al-Bukhori in Al-Fath, 4/153, Salafiyyah print)
This hadith explicitly shows that the condition of junub at dawn does not invalidate the fast, nor does it reduce its validity.
It needs to be emphasized: Don’t delay bathing until you have finished praying
Even though fasting is valid, it does not mean that a person can postpone junub bathing indefinitely. He is still obliged to take a shower immediately so he can perform the morning prayer on time.
Delaying bathing to the point of missing the Fajr prayer without due reason is a sin in itself, even though the fast is still valid.
From this discussion, we can learn an important lesson that Islam is a religion full of convenience. Sharia does not burden its people with anything beyond human capabilities or conditions.
However, this convenience should not be used as an excuse to be lazy in maintaining the perfection of worship. Fasting is not only about whether it is valid or not, but also about the quality and piety that you want to achieve.
Hope it is useful. Wallohu a’lam.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
